Warrior Dashed

We ran in the Warrior Dash yesterday down in Bastrop.  They call it "The Craziest Frickin Day of Your Life".  I'm pretty sure most days of boot camp were crazier than this for me, but we had a lot of fun nonetheless and would recommend this race to most anyone.

I really enjoyed watching some girl try to actually walk under the barbed wire instead of crawl in the mud.  It was even funnier when she got her shirt caught, was stuck for about a minute of her race, and was mad about the whole thing.  Trisha and I, on the other hand...not to point out how much better we were in comparison with her or anything...just dove in and flew through it.

I found it ironic that the running was the part that helped Trisha get ahead of so many people in our heat; and me, I blew through the obstacles.  We made a fun team.  This was our FHE for the week.

Plus side of race: cool medals, we got to make fun of people, rockin warrior hats that we wore all the way home and almost forgot to take off when we went out for breakfast... whoops! Drawbacks: three washes later and our shorts are still sandy, wife made me look like a pansy between obstacles.

First Second Blog

I decided to start a blog in English so that I'm not the only one reading my blog.... I don't know, I figured it was a good idea to blog in Arabic so that I'd have practice actually expressing myself on various topics on a more regular basis.

I always worry about posting things officially, or for people to read.  For my whole life I've kept a decent public face so that I wouldn't offend people, but the downside is that I very rarely get to express my whole self for fear of driving off anyone with any kind of judgment of character.  Sadly, or not sadly, I enjoy being irreverent  By irreverent, I mean squeezing my palms together during church to make farting sounds--that's why Trisha doesn't sit by me at church...  Seriously though, I just *really *really enjoy asking the questions that nobody is willing to ask, or prying into all kinds of business that isn't mine, but not to exploit people or blackmail them; it's to learn.  To me, it's a love affair with honesty.  What is *really going on in the world and why do we *really do what we do?

I laughed at a couple college student friends of mine for asking too many questions.  That's what college often does: it trains you to ask questions, not seek answers.  I spent way too much time in both during my BA studies.  But the irony lies in the fact that despite my new desires for practical learning, I still just LOVE knowing how things work and why.  If I could have my way, and actually remember a quarter of the things I'd learn, I'd get a self-made degree...a PhD in Everything.

But back to the irreverence, I have to cite a friend I made while on our honeymoon in Mexico that sum up my thoughts on my blog: escucha cabrón, está en nuestro país

As for the title of my blog...Trisha stumbled upon a picture she felt explains me:
